Marine Debris Tracker

Marine Debris Tracker

As part of the Ecoblitz, participants are asked to collect data that identify the quantity and types of trash found in their community. This data will be compared to the data they collect in iNaturalist (measuring the flora and fauna)  By comparing two data sets of the same area, we can better understand our impact on the environment and are able to design better solutions to mitigate negative impact.

Tip: You might use this collection sheet when you and your students are in the field tracking trash and then transfer the data to the app back in the classroom.

Many teachers sent their students out with clipboards and a pencil to collect the data and then consolidate the data later. This allows for fewer electronic devices needed and more students to have an active role.
